After you put it in the collection plate, or put it in the mail, or even after you click “submit” in some online format or app, you still must wonder. . . Where does my money go? The Mission Committee strives to be good stewards of your gifts, and we are always open to suggestions of charities that you would like to see supported. Currently, the following charities are provided with monthly or seasonal contributions. Please contact a committee member if you would like to see changes or additions.

Salvation Army of El Dorado

Salvation Army of El Dorado

Based on a worldwide movement in the mid 1800s, the Salvation Army’s mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination. They provide special services to the people in El Dorado and surrounding communities including worship services, thrift stores, seasonal warming or cooling stations, a soup kitchen and other various feeding programs.

Boys and Girls Club of Union County

Boys and Girls Club of Union County

Since 1939 Boys and Girls club has provided after school and summer programs for thousands of local youth. They focus on ensuring a safe and positive place for youth ages 5 to 18. They provide educational tutoring, character development , arts and crafts and sports, recreation and fitness to youth in our area with locations in El Dorado, Smackover and Strong.

Court Appointed Special Advocates

Court Appointed Special Advocates

Working with the South Arkansas Children’s Coalition, the 13th South Circuit trains volunteers to represent children in juvenile and probate courts. Volunteers are trained to advocate for abused and neglected children ranging in age up to 21 and as a result, they help protect these children from further harm and restore hope to their lives.

The CALL in Union and Calhoun Counties

The CALL mobilizes local churches to serve children and youth who are placed in foster care. The CALL recruits, trains and supports foster and adoptive families. They are on a mission to educate, equip and encourage the Christian community to provide a future and hope for children in Arkansas.

Magdalene House

Magdalene House

The Magdalene organization creates a sanctuary for women who are striving for recovery and renewal from addiction, abuse and exploitation. With 2 houses in El Dorado, currently 8 women are committed to a 2 year residential program that focuses on improving one’s emotional and financial well being. Through education, employment and community support, these women are creating a future of stability that will also ensure they can help those that follow.

Hope Landing

Hope Landing

Located on Highway 82 right outside of El Dorado, Hope Landing provides occupational, physical, speech-language, eq- uine and aquatic therapies for children age birth to 21 on an outpatient basis. Through summer camps, performing arts and holiday special events, inclusion programs allow families, siblings and the entire community to experience the amazing achievements of the Hope Landing children.

Interfaith Help Services

Interfaith Help Services

Housed in St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Interfaith Help is a multi-agency nonprofit outreach service. The program is funded by several local congregations. Staffed entirely by volunteers, Interfaith Help runs a food pantry as well as an assistance program for utilities and dental care. They do not maintain a website but can be found on Facebook and other social media.
